Fast forwarding or rewinding to get to a scene and pressing play speeds it up to 3x 4x and then 5x so you miss all you were trying to see. DVR is as buggy as other unit in the sense that there is poor control with the remote control. Overall Review: - 2 eggs for not being able to leave unattended as well as poor back up support/options. Look for another DVR if those are your needs.

You can not download the main files to your HDD and convert those, so the backup process could take a long time if you wantto do the entire disk. The only way to back up video from the dvr is by converting to AVI through USB. Doing that has prevented the crash from happening. So I stop recording and re-start right away at least ONCE a day. Leave it on for less than 48 hours and it will crash. Even sooner than expected one could say.Ĭons: Augmented: - Well it's true, leave this unit on for an extended period of time and it crashes/freezes up. If money is an issue I would focus on good camera's and a cheaper dvr like this one. I have a couple different camera's set up and getting a good one really makes a huge difference.

Overall Review: To get images off the dvr you need the windows application which I have to use my work laptop for since I don't use windows if I can help it. I couldn't get the web browser to connect but it is not a feature I was too worried about and it may be just something I have done with blocking scripts from running. I don't know what this would mean if there was a power outage. I had a spare 250 gig drive already so getting a dvr for $99 was great since I am strapped for cash but also paranoid after someone vandalized my backyard and broke into my house.Ĭons: You seem to have to stop recording to get into the menu and you have to hit record for it to record instead of letting it just do it by itself. I didn't know what I was getting into with this dvr since there where no reviews and the only specs I could find where the same as newegg had but after getting it I am very satisfied. At night when the IR kicked in the DVR would record constantly even though I had it set to motion detection only because since there was a voltage drop when the IR kicked the s/n ratio of the camera changed and this gave me and grainy and snowy picture and the DVR picked that up as motion. Overall Review: Make sure you get an adequate power supply for your cameras because I have 1 IR camera on this system that had a 500ma psu and the recommended was 1000ma. Not really a big deal but they could have made it so you could access the menu. Pretty much a plug and play system, all you have to do it plug in the cameras, the power, and put in a hard drive and you're all set to go.Ĭons: Like the other review for this DVR, I don't like that you can't access the menu while recording, you have to first press stop to end the recording and then access the menu.
